Rohit Sharma's year has gone from great to awesome as he slammed his 2nd hundred to lead India to an 88-run victory against Sri Lanka in the second T20 International at the Holkar stadium in Indore.

Rohit reached the three-figure mark in just 35 balls, which is the joint-second fastest in T20Is, and ended up with 118 off 43 balls as India posted 260/5 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
Sri Lanka in reply could only manage 172 for 9, falling short of the target by 88 runs and thus, lost out on the three-match series as India had won the first match by 93 runs.
Rohit and KL Rahul were the major contributors for the hosts with the duo adding a record 165 runs for the first wicket. Rahul ended up with 89 runs off 49 balls with 8 sixes and 5 fours.
Rohit once again outshone every other player in the famed Indian batting lineup and continued his good run against Sri Lanka. He had also scored a record third double hundred in the second ODI at Mohali.
2017 has certainly been one of the best year's in Rohit's career with the batsman amassing 1766 runs across formats in international cricket.
HITMAN'S STATS IN 2017:
- Rohit's 35-ball hundred is the second fastest hundred in T20 internationals. South Africa's David Miller scored a 35-ball ton against Bangladesh in 2017.
- Rohit smashed 10 sixes during his 43-ball knock which is the most by any Indian batsman in a T20 innings. Yuvraj Singh had slammed 7 sixes against England in the World T20 in 2007.
- The Hitman took his tally of sixes to 64 across formats, which is the most by any batsman in a calendar year. AB de Villiers had hit 63 sixes in 2015 while Chris Gayle had 59 in 2012.
- Rohit is the only Indian batsman to score more than one hundred in T20 Internationals. KL Rahul and Suresh Raina have one each.
- The Mumbaikar's 35-ball hundred was also the fastest by an Indian batsman in any format of the game.
- Rohit has scored 8 centuries in the current year across formats, which is the highest by him in his career so far. Only Sachin Tendulkar with nine hundreds in 1998 has hit more tons for India in a calendar year.
- Rohit scored his third double hundred in ODIs in the second match against Sri Lanka earlier this month. He is the only batsman in world cricket to smash 3 double hundreds. Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle have one double ton each.
- Rohit blasted 13 fours and 12 sixes in his unbeaten 153-ball knock at the PCA stadium, celebrating his second wedding anniversary with Ritika Sajdeh. He went past Surrey's Alastair Brown in English county cricket and now tops the list of most double hundreds in List A cricket.
- Rohit's unbeaten 208 was his fifth 150-plus knock, which is the joint highest with Tendulkar and David Warner.  He had scored an unbeaten 171 against Australia in 2016 and 150 against South Africa in 2015.
- Rohit's unbeaten 208 is the second highest individual score by a captain, behind Virender Sehwag's 219 against West Indies in Indore way back in 2011.
- Rohit has 16 ODI hundreds now, the fourth most by an Indian batsman after Tendulkar, Kohli and Ganguly.
- Rohit has 14 ODI hundreds since he started to open the innings for India from January 2013. He is only behind South African Hashim Amla in the same time span coming out to bat at the same spot.
- Rohit now has the highest individual score by an Indian in ODIs and T20Is. His 264 against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in 2014 is the highest score by a batsman overall in ODI cricket.
- With 1293 runs in 21 ODIs, Rohit is second on the list of batsmen with the most runs in 2017. Virat Kohli leads the pack with 1460 runs in 26 matches.
