Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who steppd down as India's limited-overs captain last week, addressed a press conference. He made several revelations during the interaction and said he had made up his mind to give up the captaincy sometime back as he did not believe in split captaincy. Dhoni also said he had sacrificed a No.4 position to bat lower down the order only for the team's interests as he thought he was best placed to finish games for India. He also spoke about his close ties with Virat Kohli and said the young captain will rewrite records with his team.

The Jharkhand wicketkeeper batsman said he was happy that the transition period was smooth after the senior players left and added that the juniors who had come in to replace the stars would take Indian cricket to greater heights. The 35-year-old Dhoni said he would keep on sharing his inputs with Kohli to help the captain decide the best course of actin in the middle.

Dhoni further said he had no plans of growing his hair back. His billowing mane had become a rage when he stormed into the international scene and clobbered hundreds against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, marking the beginning of a new era.
